There might be thousands of reasons to visit Regensburg, but we definitely offer the best one to you: Dancing in our historic city in the merry month of May!
Our Idea
We have put a nice programme together for you to enjoy your time in Regensburg. You can attend both daytime acitivities and evening parties – with live and DJ music, taster and special classes, and you can also choose between two parallel 6h workshops tracks – Lindy Hop and Collegiate Shag – with amazing international teachers!
Our idea is to provide a cozy and an easy (or lazy) Swing dance experience to you, featuring:
- Dancing to fine music at the parties with the ability to have a good and long rest – without risking to miss the first event on the next day’s schedule,
- Dance workshops to improve your skills – and this without rushing only from class to class,
- And – of course – four days of fun and lots of opportunities to sozialize with old and new friends!
Besides the official schedule, you will have enough spare time to stroll around in our beautiful city. Located in the east of Bavaria, Regensburg is often called the most northern city of “bella Italia”. You can’t deny the similarities after having some ice cream or espresso on one of the medieval piazzas. Fancy the more traditional Bavarian way of life? Visit a Biergarten down by the riverside and enjoy the so called “bayerische Gemütlichkeit”.
We cannot wait to welcome all of you here in Regensburg – and are excited to spend a phantastic weekend dancing with you!

Thursday
Welcome and Outdoor Dance
Your start into the Regensburg Swing Exchange 2023!
Our first meeting point is located in a park near the main station: the Schwammerl Kiosk. You can hardly miss it – this petite kiosk from the 1950s is shaped like a mushroom. You can get some excellent coffee there and they definitely serve one of Regensburg’s best espressi. If you’re not the biggest coffee lover, ask for cold refreshments. Have a drink, a chat, and of course a dance with all the other participants.
We will be there to give out your tickets and answer all questions. Nice to meet you!
Once we’re already together, the best way to get introduced to each other surely is to dance! And since the weather in Regensburg end of May is usually warm and dry, we cordially invite you dance with us on some pretty places in the city. Starting directly in front of the Schwammerl Kiosk, we will later move on to one of the best known landmarks in Regensburg – the medieval Stone Bridge.
Time: Thursday, 18.05., 14:00 – 16:00
Venue: Milchschwammerl
Please note: In case of very bad weather forecast, the Welcome Dance will be relocated to the Alte Mälzerei (Theatersaal) on short notice. We will inform you via email as well – please stay tuned.

The first evening party! To welcome you once again in Regensburg, the guys from our local Swing band Ca Bouge! will bring you right in the mood to heat up your feet for the upcoming weekend with fine Swing and Jazz classics.
And with The See See Riders, another great band joins us at this evening with Blues and american string band music.
And before, in between and after the bandsets, our DJs will take care that danceable music never stops!

Regensburg with its medieval old town has lots of interesting places and sites to visit. Join the professionally guided city tour on Friday morning and see where the people lived, danced, and played music back in the ancient days and not so long ago. Time: Friday, 19.05., 11:00 – 12:30

Focusing on danceability for us Swing dancers, three of our DJs will play the best Swinging Sounds from the era after WWII with late big band Swing, Rhythm’n’Blues, Rock’n’Roll, and early Soul. And be sure, there will be some other surprising tunes from this era for your delight!

Sunday Dance and Farewell
Prefer sleeping in? Don’t worry! We will continue to dance directly after the Swing Brunch and enjoy the easy Sunday.
Unfortunately the German saying “alles hat ein Ende nur die Wurst hat zwei“ is true and we have to say goodbye to you at some point. (It means “everything has got an ending, only a sausage got two“, Germans and sausages, long story…). That’s why we ask all of you to gather for a group picture and one last dance with your new made friends. Let’s exchange numbers, tell us what you liked and enjoyed most, and then dance your way home with a smile on your face.
See you next year!
Time: Sunday, 21.05., 13:00 – 15:00
